If you’re driven, passionate, and ready to embody our values, come and join us on the journey As a Lead Android Engineer at Team RH you’ll be helping to develop would-class digital products in the health & weight loss space. You’ll be working as part of a feature squad alongside product, UX, iOS & back-end developers to bring new features to our members. You’ll also be responsible for supporting our other Android developers, including helping them to grow their skills and ensuring the code base is well-architected. You’ll also be involved with looking at new technologies and integrations as we broaden our capabilities, and you’ll often get involved with other departments as we support each other’s initiatives, often acting as an intermediary between the developers and those other stakeholders. Responsibilities Take ownership of developing key features, building high quality solutions. Ensure that engineering solutions align with the product vision and can be effectively implemented using our chosen technologies. Conduct code reviews and give feedback. Mentor other software engineers to develop high-quality, scalable and innovative solutions. Cultivate a culture of transparent communication and continuous feedback among the engineering team, product team and the Head of Engineering. Work closely with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to enhance sprint efficiency, ensuring timely delivery and addressing any impediments. Acting as a conduit between the developers and the Head of Engineering. Assist in roadmap planning, helping to define short-term and mid-term goals for the team based on strategic direction Engage in research & experimentation for new technologies & tools and longer term strategies. Experience & Skills Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Android software development. Previous experience in a lead engineer role, ideally in tech scale-ups. Knowledge of software architecture, cloud technologies, and modern programming languages (specifically Kotlin and Jetpack Compose). Experience with Agile development methodologies, TDD, user stories and BDD, DevOps principles, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub actions, CircleCI). Proven ability to optimise team efficiency, balancing both strategic and operational needs. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. The ability to make decisions and willingness to challenge, validate and qualify your ideas and assumptions, acting in the interests of the business and the user. A keen interest in advancements in the field, including new technologies, latest frameworks, new libraries or interesting blog posts. Hours Full-time: 37.5 hours per week. Initially, this role will be hybrid between remote-working, and at our Team Valley office. Core Hours: Mon –Thurs : 10am–4pm, Friday: 10am–12:30pm It is worth noting that we are currently trialling a 4-day-working-week, which we are planning to review and make permanent in the near future.
