JUNIOR / MID-LEVEL BACKEND DEVELOPER

You will be required to join colleagues in the office in Liverpool, UK, once or twice per week minimum. This needs to be an ongoing and sustainable commitment. At this time, international applications cannot be considered.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
ANALYSIS AND DEVELOPMENT
* Implement public-facing web solutions, integrating business systems with content management platforms to contribute to the success of our projects.
* Write high-quality, maintainable code that adheres to team standards and best practices.
* Collaborate with senior developers to design and develop solutions, ensuring clarity in roles and expectations.
* Accurately estimate effort for development tasks and provide regular updates on progress to keep projects on track.
* For mid-level roles: take ownership of smaller development projects, proactively identifying potential risks and solutions.
* Quickly escalate incomplete or ambiguous requirements to avoid project delays and ensure clarity.
* Engage in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to enhance team performance.
TECHNICAL CONSULTANCY
* Work closely with senior developers and consultants to provide technical input into solution designs, ensuring alignment with project goals.
* Develop a solid understanding of the business and technical context behind project decisions to inform your contributions.
* Actively participate in requirement gathering and technical discussions with internal teams to clarify expectations.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Essential
* Experience developing C#/.NET web applications.
o For Junior Developers, this could take the form of commercial experience, work placement, freelance, or open-source involvement.
o For Mid-level Developers, we expect 2+ years of commercial experience working on mid-to-large sized projects.
* Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and SOLID principles.
* Familiarity with building and integrating web applications with APIs and relational databases.
* Suitable understanding of web security risks (e.g., SQL injection, XSS, OWASP Top 10, etc.).
* Experience using Git for source control and working with branches/pull requests.
* A strong desire to grow professionally and contribute to an already successful team.
Desirable
* Experience with Optimizely (formerly Episerver), Umbraco, or other CMS platforms.
* Knowledge of DevOps pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps, TeamCity or GitHub Actions).
* Experience using GraphQL and/or headless CMS platforms, such as Contentful, Contentstack, etc.
