Ledbury Welding and Engineering is one of the UK’s leading bulk fuel manufacturers, supplying most of the major supermarket chains with our modular filling stations, as well as providing bulk fuel storage facilities for hauliers, coach companies, etc.
As you progress along the apprenticeship road, there is a pathway to progress to full-time positions.
An average day at the start of the apprenticeship would be:
* To shadow one of our long-term experienced Welder/Fabricators, watching and listening to their guidance.
* We always like to get our apprentices to be hands-on whenever possible, so trial welding/fabricating would be offered, under guidance.
* Helping out wherever needed in collecting items from stores to be used.
Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Hereford (HR4 9SX) or Worcester (WR4 9GN).
Level 2 comprises of:
* Duration approximately 18 months.
Block release training includes 1 day per week in a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects working to complete the following qualifications:
* EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills).
* EAL Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Knowledge).
* You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions.
* They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment.
* Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed.
* There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on the programme.
Working hours are Monday - Thursday, 08:00 - 16:30 and Friday, 08:00 - 15:30 with a half-hour unpaid lunch break.
