Posting Text: Reporting to the Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities, the Assistant Director for Accessibility Services will help meet the needs of a diverse population to ensure accessibility and success for students. The Assistant Director will be responsible for facilitating student access and academic support services through the accommodation process. The AD will promote student development and self-advocacy and serve as a resource on disability awareness and accommodations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage support programs and services for students with learning, physical, sensory, and psychiatric disabilities.
2. Obtain, review, and maintain student records including eligibility information and accommodations.
3. Empower students with knowledge, skills, and accommodations to achieve success.
4. Coordinate appropriate academic support services, based on documentation of disability and consultation with other professionals.
5. Provide referrals to appropriate on-campus and off-campus resources such as counseling, vocational rehabilitation, and state and local agencies.
6. Provide advocacy via personal interactions with students, faculty, and staff.
7. Advise and educate students, faculty, and staff regarding Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Section 508 amendment of 1998.
8. Coordinate interpreting and/or CART (remote captioning) services for faculty, staff, and students on and off campus for all university-sponsored events.
9. Provide assistance and support to faculty and staff on matters related to students with disabilities.
10. Assess and implement strategies to ensure that architectural barriers are addressed and removed.
11. Oversee the notetaking, accommodated testing, and alternate-format textbook programs.
12. Manage and provide assistive technology, including auxiliary aids.
13. Coordinate and develop marketing materials such as printed materials, website, and other media.
14. Establish and maintain liaisons with other agencies and university departments.
15. Present or assist in presenting on a variety of topics.
16. Facilitates select key results from Student Affairs Strategic Action Plan (2021-2025) and Student Affairs Assessment Report.
17. Convene the University Advisory Team on Disability, Inclusion, and Accessibility charged with working collaboratively with the campus community to advise on issues related to ADA/504 compliance.
18. Perform other duties related to the above responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s degree required; 3 years’ experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
2. Master’s degree preferred in Counseling, Vocational Rehabilitation, or Education/Special Education.
3. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
4. Knowledge about various types of disabilities.
5. Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Section 508 of 1998.
6. Experience in program development and management, with case management experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Excellent organizational skills specifically in record keeping and time management.
2. Program development through assessment, planning, and implementation including research, statistical analysis, program development, and program evaluation.
3. Ability to relate empathetically and effectively with a variety of people.
4. Excellent interpersonal/group communication skills, both written and verbal.
5. Assistive technology experience preferred.
6. Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and building a sense of belonging.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
1. Typical office environment.
2. Some weekend and evening work.
Management Responsibilities:
1. Participate in and support Student Affairs Strategic Plan (2025-2030) projects and efforts.
2. Supervise a graduate assistant as available.
3. Serve on university-wide committees and task forces as needed.
4. Responsible for performing all other duties related to the above areas and/or as assigned.

Advertised Salary: Commensurate with experience; $21.55 to $24.05 per hour ($45,000 - $50,000 annually) with state benefits. Professional development funds available.
