Job Description
The Management Accountant will have a wide range of duties including:
3. Assisting in the preparation of the monthly management accounts for the business down to division and branch level within tight deadlines
4. Allocation of costs across multiple divisions and branches to ensure accurate cost centre income/charges
5. Maintain rigorous and robust balance sheet control reconciliations
6. Preparation and processing of monthly journals (inc prepayments, accruals, stock and margin)
7. Supporting the wider Finance team and the operations of the business - collaborating to ensure that financial information is accurate and complete
8. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounts records and spreadsheets
9. Assist with financial queries from both within and outside the finance team
10. Complete variance analysis on financial performance of costs against budget, prior year etc and provide regular updates to management
11. Identify and recommend areas for continuous development
12. Ownership of overhead costs including monthly meetings with budget holders to review the charges for completeness and accuracy
13. Other duties as required
The Successful Applicant
A successful Management Accountant should have:
14. Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large volumes of data
15. Experience of working in a large organisation with complex finance reporting
16. Part qualified accountant, actively studying ACCA/CIMA
17. Self-starter who can work under own initiative
18. Strong communication & interpersonal skills
19. Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
20. Good planning and organisation skills: able to work to tight deadlines
21. Strong analytical skills
