We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Business Support Officer to join our team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Local Resilience Forum. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, an excellent communicator, and adept at building relationships with various external agencies.
As a Business Support Officer, you will play a key role in our mission to plan and prepare for localized incidents and catastrophic emergencies. Your responsibilities will include identifying potential risks, developing emergency plans, and working collaboratively to prevent or mitigate the impact of incidents on our local communities. Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the planning, execution, and evaluation of exercises and risk assessments within the Resilience Delivery cycle.
2. Assist all sub-groups by organizing meetings, taking minutes, and providing guidance to agencies.
3. Manage calendars using Outlook and Microsoft Teams effectively.
4. Perform data collation and analysis as needed.
5. Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams proficiently.
6. Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
7. Maintain a flexible approach to on-call duties to support the activation of the Local Resilience Forum (LRF).
Essential Skills:
1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels across multiple organizations.
3. Proven experience in an office environment, showcasing self-discipline and initiative in managing responsibilities.
4. Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data and information.
5. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
6. Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office applications, Resilience Direct, and other relevant software.
7. Capable of collating information and producing clear, concise reports.
8. Skilled in planning and organizing both individual and multi-agency team schedules within overarching project frameworks, working collaboratively to establish aims and objectives.
9. Genuine interest in the resilience sector with a strong desire to learn and grow.
10. Valid driving license.
Desirable Skills:
1. Professional qualification in Emergency Planning or other related discipline.
2. JESIP accredited.
3. EPC accreditation within the field of resilience (e.g. BC, Risk Assessment, EP etc.).

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
Hours of Work and Flexibility: 0800-1600 (flexible)
Location: Main hub will be: C3, Park Lane, Aston, Birmingham, B6 5DD. Fully Agile - element of working in stakeholder locations e.g. Local Authority offices, WMFS.
