Balfour Beatty have created iconic buildings and infrastructure all over the world over the past 115 years redefining excellence and setting the industry benchmark with every project.
As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by BP (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic and experienced Site Agent to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar.
What you'll be doing
* Safely manage all aspects of the civil engineering works; with a particular emphasis on reinforced concrete construction.
* Support the Project Manager in coordinating the operations with other activities.
* Supervise and mentor subordinates to ensure high levels of engineering control and appropriate records are maintained during the construction, with emphasis on defect avoidance and zero defects at completion.
* Reporting progress and performance of the civil engineering operations in regular construction team meetings.
* Reviewing technical information and ensuring that any ambiguities or shortcomings are identified and resolved.
* Supporting the team in developing construction methodology, procedures and programmes.
* Delegating specific responsibilities to team members and ensuring that they are competent to execute their duties.
* Identifying any problem areas, agreeing corrective actions with relevant stakeholders and ensuring their implementation.
* Ensuring that any opportunities for team performance improvement are identified and acted upon.
* Ensure that complete and accurate records are maintained.
* Develop programmes and forecast budgets, assess actual programme and productivity achieved and review weekly, acting where appropriate and reporting any changes to the Project Manager.
* Ensure that inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works are reviewed, approved and adhered to.

* Someone experienced with reinforced concrete construction
* A civil engineering qualification would be advantageous
