If you’re reading this you will probably know that floods can cause a lot of problems for people and properties. This is your chance to help prevent this.
You’ll be looking at Flood Risk Assessments and Sustainable drainage design for new developments across the south of England, supporting senior members of staff in providing design solutions and written analysis of development sites.
You will be detailing how best to mitigate the flood risk and prevent damage, ensuring that the risk is not being increased downstream or directed onsite.
Most types of developments outside the Environment Agency Flood Zone 1, or over 1ha in size, will require a Flood Risk Assessment, so there is plenty of work.
You'll be working with data, using drainage modelling software, preparing reports, and assisting with on-site surveys.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT…
Full training is provided, and you will be learning from experienced professionals: the Director for the team has over 25 years’ experience, and the team leader has 20+ years’ experience. You will have ample opportunities to learn from them.
You’re not just a number; you are a valued individual, and the directors are always looking for ways to help you progress your career. Other graduates have joined the team and are doing very well.
There will also be the opportunity to gain experience in the Transport and Highways part of the company if you are interested.
THE TEAM…
The team consists of a senior engineer and two engineers, supported by administrative staff. Everyone within the team is very approachable and willing to help each other out. The office has a laid-back atmosphere (but with a professional and productive approach), making it an enjoyable place to work. There is a mix of ages, contributing to a great atmosphere.
WHERE YOU WILL BE WORKING…
Based in a small village in Hertfordshire, near the border of Essex, the offices are easy to reach by train, bus, or car. There is also a Cycle to Work Scheme. It is commutable from areas including Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, Hertford, Welwyn, Harlow, Bishops Stortford, Barnet, Enfield, and Stevenage, with train links from Tottenham Hale.
After the initial settling-in period, you can work from home up to 2 days a week and have flexible working hours (if you choose to).
WHAT YOU NEED…
You should have good written, communication, and analytical skills. A degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Flood Risk Management, or Civil Engineering would be ideal.
WHAT TO DO NEXT…
If you fit the profile, please send your CV as soon as possible. We will then discuss the role and business further and how it may match what you are looking for.
