The Best Connection are currently recruiting for a Machine Operative (Cut to Length) based in Coseley, West Midlands.
Payrate : £11.60
Hours
Monday to Thursday 6-2pm,
Friday 6 - 10.30am
In addition to the above, the Company may, as required from time to time and according to the needs of the business, ask employees to work overtime.
Job Summary:
Operate the cut to length machine in the Workshop area to produce quality products according to work orders and customer requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Based on work order and customer requirement, set up and feed the coil into the ‘cut to length’ machine.
* Adjust the relevant machine fixtures to ensure the coil is fed through straight in the machine.
* Adjust the measurement gauge on the machine in accordance with the works order and customer requirements.
* Adjust machine pressure.
* Adjust the lower area of the machine to ensure the coil lengths can be produced and collected without obstruction or hazard.
* Create a ‘first-off’ for the works order to ensure that the length measurement is correct.
* If ‘first-off’ is correct, set the machine counter to complete the remainder of the work order.
* If the ‘first-off’ is not correct, make necessary adjustments to machine fixtures/gauge.
* Repeat process, where necessary, until bar is straight, and measurement is correct.
* Use hand tooling properly.
* Once the works order has been fully completed, stop the machine.
* Bind and secure the coil lengths and place on pallet for dispatch with relevant labels and/or ready for manufacture.
* Maximize machine performance, quality standards and meet production targets set.
* Refer to and read work related documentation such as work orders, targets etc.
* Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
* Perform regularly housekeeping duties to ensure workplace is tidy and free from obstruction and hazards.
* Be open to change and constant improvement of processes.
* Handle material efficiently and safely including the use of the overhead crane.
* Comply with all health and safety requirements including the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
* Confer with Works Foreman or Production Manager to resolve machine malfunctions and production issues.
* Assist with the training of new employees on operation of equipment.
* Operate more than one machine at any given time as per management instruction.
* Ensure quantities are booked onto SFDC and completed at the end of each shift.
* Work on and operate other machines when requested within the Workshop to support the needs of the business.
* Perform other general tasks as assigned by the Foreman or Production Manager.
