We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team of forward-thinking general practice staff. We are looking for an HCA with experience in general practice, particularly able to undertake standard duties such as phlebotomy, blood pressure and 24-hour monitoring, provide lifestyle advice, undertake basic observations such as temperature, pulse rate and rhythm, and assist with the minor operations clinics and chronic disease recalls and reviews.
Main duties of the job
The main duties include:
1. Taking blood samples and INR if trained
2. Blood pressures including 24-hour monitoring
3. Carrying out ECG's
4. Seeing patients for hypertension reviews and chronic diseases
5. Assisting with the minor surgery clinics
6. Immunising would be an advantage for flu, B12 via a Patient Specific Direction (PSD)
7. Carrying out basic observations such as temperature, pulse rate and rhythm, blood pressure etc.

About us
We are a large general practice located in the Dearne area of Barnsley. We have 11,000 patients and provide general and enhanced services such as extended hours, minor surgery, support to local care homes, and general medical services provided by our GPs and Nursing Team.
The whole team comprises approximately 40 staff made up of clinical and non-clinical staff and we are spread across three sites which are all in close proximity, within a few miles of one another.
We are a supportive and friendly team and encourage continued professional development.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
* Qualified in Phlebotomy
* Experience of working in general practice and trained in all the competencies to work in this area
* Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care management
* Qualified in undertaking immunisations such as Flu, B12 etc.
Experience
* Experience of working in general practice
* Experience of working within a nursing team
* Experience of dealing with all ranges of patients, including vulnerable patients
