Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in various accounting software.
Duties
1. Key Responsibilities:
2. Prepare and manage financial statements, reports, and budgets
3. Perform month-end and year-end closings
4. Ensure compliance with tax regulations and financial policies
5. Oversee accounts payable and receivable
6. Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audits
7. Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making
8. Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial professionals
9. File VAT returns and address any related queries with HMRC
10. Assist in the preparation and submission of corporate tax returns
11. Respond to HMRC inquiries and resolve any tax-related issues
12. Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and provide advice as needed
13. Utilize QuickBooks and Xero for daily accounting tasks, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, and reporting
Requirements:
1. 6+ years of experience working in an accountancy firm
2. AAT qualified (minimum)
3. MSC in Accounting & Finance
4. ACCA Applied Skills Qualification is an advantage
5. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting
6. Proven experience in VAT filing and handling HMRC queries
7. Knowledge of tax compliance and experience in preparing tax returns
8. Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Excel
9. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
