Job overview
The Alder Hey Children's Hospital Eating Disorder Service (EDYS) is looking for a caring and experienced person to join our team of highly experienced, passionate, and proactive multi-disciplinary specialists.
The role will be responsible for the triage, assessment, and treatment for children and young people who are referred to EDYS. This may involve management and coordination of care plans, liaising with families/carers and multi-professional teams including Paediatricians and the Alder Hey learning disability team.
Main duties of the job
* To communicate to the client and family, knowledge of therapeutic processes, confidentiality and available options involved in their assessment and care plan.
* Utilising analytical skills, specialist knowledge and experience provide a comprehensive assessment and formulation of the presenting problem.
* Liaise with other agencies to coordinate the young person's care.
* Provide individual, couple, family and group interventions as appropriate.
* Undertake case management of cases of some severity, risk and complexity, coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs.
* Identify potential signs of mental health disorder/other specialist need and refer to the appropriate professional for assessment.
Person specification
Education & Training
* Registered Nurse or Allied/other health professional registered with NMC or HCPC
* Educated to first Degree level
* Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development
* Evidence of studying at Masters level
* Teaching qualification
* Learning Disability and/or Autism related qualification
Experience
* Extensive experience of caring for patients with LD/ASC
* Experience in behaviour management
* Experience of managing a caseload and working autonomously
* Demonstrable staff supervisory experience
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Extensive experience of supporting children and their families in an acute setting.
Knowledge
* Demonstrate a commitment to optimum standard of patient care.

* Have knowledge of practical/emotional needs of client/family
