Due to maternity leave, we are seeking an experienced Development Manager to join us and lead our Property Development team from March 2025 on a 12-month fixed-term contract. About the role As Development Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of our Development team, including the Leasehold function. You will be responsible for overseeing the project delivery of our schemes, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Supporting the Head of Development you will progress new business and development opportunities, through planning and preparing detailed feasibility studies to assess financial and development risks, making bids to Homes England and other funders for capital grants whilst overseeing the existing Development programme and team. You will play a key role in managing our contractors and stakeholders to deliver our homes, monitoring works progress and inspections, instructing and liaising with valuers and solicitors, all to ensure a customer focused sales service. Managing our leasehold function you will advise on all aspects of leasehold and shared ownership, overseeing marketing and lettings of our new build homes, managing queries from existing leaseholders and shared owners and ensuring section 20 consultation exercises with Leaseholders are completed for major works. What we’re looking for You will be an experienced Development Manager with in-depth knowledge of managing development opportunities and schemes on site/planning. This will include managing portfolios of new build / refurbishment development projects, property sales, lettings, marketing and leasehold management. You should also be familiar with the Homes England IMS system. In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation and our contracting partners, requiring strong relationship-building experience and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. Strong organisational and project management skills are essential, along with the ability to work comfortably at a fast pace, manage competing priorities, and deliver results within agreed deadlines. Your ability to evaluate risk and critically challenge conflicting information and recommendations will be essential in ensuring the delivery of a robust and customer focused service. Previous experience of successfully leading, developing and motivating a team to achieve results and maintain high performance standards is a must.
