The Job
Core Responsibilities
1. Manage and control the supplier approval process covering new and existing raw materials and packaging suppliers.
2. Be a lead auditor in the formal auditing of our suppliers from both quality and sustainable development perspective, prioritising in line with risk assessment and evaluation, following up on improvement actions plans and providing coaching as required.
3. Keep the wider Technical, Procurement and Sales teams informed of developments with suppliers and products supply chains.
4. Team up with the Procurement team in identifying potential suppliers to ensure contingency plans and support strategic sourcing decisions.
5. Work with the Technical team to ensure cross-functional alignment of priorities and ways of working, and documentation of processes.
6. Coordinate the sustainability action plan, answer customer requests and report data in line with legal requirements and strategic priorities.
Supporting Division Performance
7. Work closely with Group colleagues to deliver the strategy, following roadmaps and priorities
8. Ensure and facilitate thorough communication with the wider business to add maximum value to customer service.
9. Provide provenance and products facts for sales documentation, marketing material creation and digital communication.
10. Work in a culture that encourages ethical conduct, open communication and commitment to compliance consistent with the company values.
Who are we looking for?
11. Demonstrate successful previous experience in a sustainability / CSR role, preferably in the food or personal care industry
12. Demonstrate successful previous experience in developing and maintaining vendor relationships
13. Demonstrable understanding of the regulated environment and compliance needs
14. Knowledge of quality management and food safety standards
15. Knowledge of responsible sourcing initiatives and standards and the ability to apply SMETA principles when auditing or assessing the suitability of a supplier
16. Understanding of sustainability standards such as Organic, Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance
17. Supply chain knowledge
18. Excellent networking, interpersonal and relationship building skills, able to communicate successfully and influence both cross-functionally and vertically
19. Creative thinker able to challenge established ways of doing things with a continuous improvement attitude and commercial awareness
20. Autonomy in establishing and managing priorities, ability to work mostly on their own
21. Proactive and pragmatic approach, curious and enthusiastic with a can-do attitude.
22. Exemplary organisational skills, project management knowledge, able to meet tight deadlines and prioritise work
23. Confident IT skills, proficient using Microsoft programmes and ERP systems
24. Willingness to travel in UK and Worldwide
