Do you have a knack for spotting a story, creating great multimedia content and writing brilliant copy? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re looking for an all-round communicator to join our friendly corporate communications service. The successful applicant will be part of a supportive and aspirational team, sharing our news, writing press releases, planning and delivering creative campaigns and deepening our relationship with our residents.
The post holder will be supporting teams across the council, gathering and creating news and content about our services and our district. Whether it’s shaping how we connect with our community, writing content for our website and social media channels, or liaising with the media and journalists, this is a varied role for someone with creative flair who enjoys a challenge.
The successful applicant will need excellent editorial judgement and experience of implementing successful, multi-channel campaigns. A proactive approach to gathering and creating content, with some photography or video production/editing skills would be a bonus.
This is a one-year fixed term contract offering flexibility to work 30 hours per week across 4 or 5 days (with line manager agreement). It also comes with a hybrid working arrangement, combining time at the Civic Centre, out and about in the district, and at home.
Interviews are scheduled to take place between 21 and 23 January 2024.
Chelmsford City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable groups and expects all employees to share this commitment and have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services. The Council's Safer Recruitment process contains pre-employment checks which includes safeguarding training, obtaining references and ensuring compliance with Disclosure and Barring Service process.
