The Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join a leading Commercial team based in Bristol. This role will see you supporting clients across key sectors such as financial services, retail, leisure, and digital, advising on a wide variety of commercial matters. You will be involved in strategic, high-value projects and complex contractual arrangements, providing non-contentious advice on areas such as framework agreements, supply agreements, payment systems, digital transformation projects, outsourcing, licensing, and collaborations. Working alongside a team of industry experts, you will gain exposure to some of the most significant commercial projects in the UK. The role also offers the chance to develop your career further, with bespoke training and mentoring to ensure you have the technical, commercial, and managerial skills to succeed. You will play an active role in business development, including preparing pitches, building client relationships, and providing training to clients and junior team members. The Ideal Candidate: Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered) with a minimum of 4 years PQE in commercial or technology law, gained within a leading law firm or relevant in-house legal team. Experience advising on commercial transactions in sectors such as financial services, retail, or digital. An interest in supporting clients in the financial services sector, particularly those operating in the payments industry. Strong technical ability in negotiating, drafting, and advising on complex commercial contracts. Client-focused with the ability to develop and nurture long-standing relationships. A motivated self-starter with ambitions to contribute to more complex, strategic client work, with appropriate Partner oversight and support. Payments-related experience (e.g., merchant acquiring, card issuing, payment gateways) is beneficial but not essential.
