This post is a superb opportunity for a newly qualified teacher, a recent graduate or someone considering a career in education at one of the country’s finest schools. The successful candidate will show the potential to be an outstanding classroom practitioner and have the ability to communicate and instil a lifelong love of their subject in the next generation. Candidates will wish to play a full and active role in all aspects of school life.

The Biology Department exemplifies Charterhouse values, and the successful applicant will be prepared to contribute widely to a very cohesive team. A practical approach to learning is prioritised, whether through hands-on practical work or through tried and tested demonstrations.
In Biology, we encourage pupils to investigate the subject (and science in general) beyond the confines of the syllabus. Pupils regularly take part in the British Biology Olympiad, Cambridge Biology Challenge, Synaptic Essay competition (with one of our current students coming 2nd nationally) as well as other national competitions.
There are currently eight Biology teachers, who also play a significant part in the co-curricular and pastoral life of the School. The department consists of seven large classrooms, with dedicated teaching space and practical benches in each laboratory, as well as additional teaching areas, including a fully equipped project room and Biology Library.
