Business Development Executive - Automation and Engineering

The focus is on enhancing the efficiency of assets, ensuring high availability, and reducing maintenance costs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Excel as a prospecting salesperson, creating and securing significant business deals for turnkey project work, including design, engineering, and construction of ECIA systems. Target project values range from £500K to £5.0M.
2. Develop and close deals for industrial processes, including FEED, Design, Engineering, DSEAR, Functional Safety, Automation, Controls, SCADA, OT Cyber robustness, MCCs, electrical panels, and related installation services.
3. Utilise sales processes and curiosity to fully understand client needs and business drivers, leading to successful deal closures.
4. Implement the Business Sales plan, achieving defined growth targets and sales quotas.
5. Organise and schedule client visits to maximise face-to-face time and foster strong relationships.
6. Identify key accounts, buyers, and stakeholders to produce account development plans, supporting the achievement of sales plans and individual targets.
7. Provide sales input and intelligence to produce high-quality, creative, and compelling proposals that meet client needs.
8. Develop a strong understanding of the services and portfolio offered, especially in Engineering, Automation, and Digital Service functions.
9. Manage and maintain the CRM tool (Salesforce) for accounts and opportunities, providing regular updates to the sales pipeline.
Experience & Qualifications:
1. Proven experience in conceptual, consultative, solution sales of Electrical, Controls, Instrument & automation turnkey projects within Life Sciences, Nuclear/Defence, O&G, and similar process industries.
2. Demonstrated ability to generate leads, develop, and win business to achieve target sales quotas.
3. Experience managing sales pipelines and bid processes for products and services in the £15-£20M funnel.
4. Proficiency in qualifying, planning, and developing accounts and clients to successful conclusions.
5. A track record of selling ECIA systems, including FEED, Design Engineering, PLC/HMI/SCADA/DCS/MES, MCC and Control panels, and site installation.
6. Broad industry understanding, particularly in process control & automation engineering/control.
7. Knowledge of commercial terms and governance practices, including T&M, Fixed bid, NEC, ICHEM E, etc.
8. Degree qualified is preferred, but an HNC/D qualification in electrical/electronic engineering, computer/control systems engineering, or other appropriate disciplines will be considered.
9. Sales process training (e.g., Strategic Selling, Altify, SPIN, High Impact Sales) is advantageous.
10. Experience with Salesforce is desirable.
