Trainee CAD/CAM ENGINEER Job description
The CAD/CAM Engineer is responsible for reviewing customer supplied data and drawings, performing design rule checks and creation of manufacturing data, programs and tools required for the manufacture of furniture items as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Import Customer data into various CAM systems.
* Perform design rule checks and edit data to comply with manufacturing guidelines.
* Create array configurations, route, and test programs, penalization and output data for production use.
* Work with process management to evaluate and provide strategy for advanced processing as needed.
* Itemise and correspond to design Issues with account management.
* Other duties as assigned
ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Production and Machine shop Management. Coordinates activities with all departments, especially manufacturing.
QUALIFICATIONS
* The post will include full in house training so no particular CAD/CAM experience will be necessary.
* The successful candidate must come from a joinery background with several year’s carpentry/joinery experience.
* Furniture construction manufacturing knowledge.
* City and guilds or NVQ graded carpentry and joinery certifications required.
* Experience using CAD software would be ideal but not essential, also any experience using Microsoft office would be of benefit.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare documents.
