I am partnering with a local maintenance contractor based in Cornwall to help recruit a Gas Engineer for their team. As a Gas Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and servicing of domestic gas systems. Ideally, you will be located in Bodmin, Bude, Launceston, or surrounding areas.
Duties will include:
1. Servicing and Maintenance: Conduct routine servicing and maintenance of domestic gas appliances, such as boilers, heating systems, and cookers, to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.
2. Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Identify and troubleshoot issues with gas appliances, systems, and pipework, and carry out necessary repairs to restore proper functionality.
3. Emergency Breakdown Response: Attend to emergency callouts for breakdowns, diagnosing problems, and providing timely repairs to restore heating and hot water services.
4. Safety Inspections: Perform safety checks on gas appliances and systems, ensuring they meet safety standards and regulations, including issuing gas safety certificates (CP12) where applicable.
5. Installation of Parts and Components: Replace faulty parts or components on gas systems and appliances, ensuring correct installation in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and safety regulations.
6. Customer Communication: Provide clear communication to customers regarding the work required, the condition of their gas systems, and any potential safety concerns or maintenance needs.
7. Compliance with Regulations: Ensure all work adheres to the relevant Gas Safe regulations and health and safety standards.
8. Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, and safety checks, ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed.
9. System Upgrades and Efficiency Advice: Recommend upgrades or improvements to customers' gas systems for increased efficiency, safety, or performance where applicable.
10. Collaborating with Team Members: Work alongside other engineers and office staff to ensure effective service delivery and customer satisfaction.
You will need:
1. NVQ/Diploma: A Level 2 or 3 NVQ/Diploma in Plumbing, Gas Installation, or Heating and Ventilation.
2. ACS Qualifications: Completion of ACS (Accredited Certification Scheme) qualifications for domestic gas appliances is required.
3. Specialist Certifications: Certifications to work with specific appliances (e.g., boilers, cookers, water heaters).
4. Extensive Gas System Knowledge: A thorough understanding of gas systems, boilers, heating systems, and other domestic appliances.
5. Diagnostic & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose faults quickly and provide effective solutions.
6. Understanding of Safety Standards: Familiarity with gas safety regulations, health and safety procedures, and ensuring compliance in all work performed.
7. Attention to Detail: Being meticulous in inspections and testing, especially when it comes to ensuring the safe operation of gas appliances.
8. Strong Communication: Ability to explain technical issues in simple terms to customers and provide advice or guidance on safety, repairs, and system efficiency.
