Support Worker

Location: Caernarfon, Gwynedd

Responsibilities:
1. Encourage the people we support to make their own choices about everyday things such as what to wear, what to do, what to eat, as well as bigger decisions such as where to live, how to spend their money or where to go on holiday.
2. Enable the people we support to fulfil those choices, including structured activities which help each individual to develop their confidence and skills.
3. Enable the people we support to meet their responsibilities such as paying bills, looking after their homes, being good neighbours, and keeping in close contact with friends and family.
4. Enable the people we support to be involved in company-related activities such as being involved in training, recruitment of new staff, and attending house meetings.
Skills Required:
1. Support individuals to carry out normal household tasks.
2. Understand principles of respect and dignity.
3. Have patience and empathy.
4. Support a person with their intimate personal care with dignity and respect.
5. Good communication skills that can be adapted to suit the situation.
6. Ability to speak on behalf of others and to a range of professional people within and outside of Cartrefi Cymru.
7. Good written skills and the ability to record events with empathy and meaning.
8. Basic computer skills to keep simple records and find information.
9. Good observational skills.
10. Ability to work as part of a team.
11. Ability to work to consistent standards.
12. Ability to make decisions and follow them through.
13. Creativity and organizational skills.
14. Ability to manage and record finances.
15. The ability to drive and the use of your own vehicle is essential.
