We are currently looking for a Group Accountant to join our finance team in our Stockport Head Office. The responsibility of the Group Accountant is to perform finance activities for head office entities and the group consolidation. Initially the focus areas will be to establish and maintain a robust intercompany process on a new finance system, provide support and co-ordination through the audit and statutory accounts processes and ownership of head office entity accounting. The role will work closely with group shared services and the operating business units to ensure best practice is adhered to in respect of financial reporting, data integrity and group policy compliance. Duties and Responsibilities Reporting and controls: Accounting for head office entities including journal posting, balance sheet reconciliations and preparing year end statutory accounts. Establish and maintain a new intercompany process in collaboration with divisional finance, group treasury and finance system teams, with close support from the Group Reporting Manager and Group Financial Controller. Focus on capturing internal transactions accurately and “Right First Time” within the new finance system (Microsoft Dynamics 365) and reporting outputs for matrix matching. Ownership of group intercompany matrix, facilitating conversations to reconcile any mismatches. Support the Group FC and Group Reporting Manager in monitoring compliance with the group internal controls framework to support rapid future growth. Support the Group FC and Group Reporting Manager in coordinating the Group and entity audits. Support the Group FC and Group Reporting Manager in monthly management reporting. Support the production of group ‘glossy’ Annual Report. Assist in co-ordination of subsidiary statutory financial statements, supporting the wider finance team to ensure compliance with the standardised template. Acquisitions: Support integration of acquired entities and acquisition accounting, where required Technical: Support the Group FC and Group Reporting Manager in production of Group accounting policies and procedures Advocate of UK GAAP knowledge and provide accounting guidance to other Finance team members Preparation of ad hoc accounting papers as required Support anticipated IFRS transition in 1-2 years. Continual drive for improvement and automation of processes. Skills and Experience Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA). Strong technical financial accounting and reporting ability. Attention to detail and takes pride in work. Strong systems and excel abilities, experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations is preferable. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and building strong business partnerships. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative, prioritising tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
