We have a new opportunity for you to join our small and busy team as a Planning Enforcement Officer to ensure compliance mainly with the Town and Country Planning legislation. Working in our large borough gives you the opportunity to be involved with rural issues, urban regeneration, coastal planning, and major development in towns.
You will carry out investigations into complaints and alleged breaches of planning control and gather the evidence to produce a satisfactory conclusion by either negotiation or formal action. Where needed, draft reports for the Planning Committee; prepare statements to defend appeals, and if required, draft witness statements/proofs of evidence. You may also need to attend informal hearings, public inquiries, or court to present evidence.
You will have experience in a relevant enforcement environment with a clear understanding of investigative procedures within a legislative framework including PACE and RIPA. With planning legislation knowledge, you will be able to research and analyse information and, as a good communicator, be able to present reports on technically complex issues to different audiences and be tactful and diplomatic when it comes to resolving sometimes difficult cases.
