As a Senior Structural Engineer at our firm, you’ll spearhead the design and analysis of structural systems, ensuring they meet safety and regulatory standards. This role demands a deep understanding of structural engineering principles, excellent project management skills, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams. You’ll play a key role in developing sustainable, efficient, and innovative structural solutions for a diverse range of projects. Your tasks and responsibilities will encompass the following, among others:
* Lead the design and analysis of structural systems across a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, ensuring all designs adhere to the highest safety, quality standards, and compliance with Australian regulations and codes.
* Prepare and review structural design documentation, conducting detailed engineering analyses to preemptively identify and mitigate structural issues.
* Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, integrating structural considerations into project planning and execution and contributing to innovative and technical improvements that enhance project outcomes.
* Provide mentorship to junior engineers to develop their skills and knowledge in structural engineering, including overseeing their training and conducting QA checks on projects they complete.
* Stay informed on technological advancements, incorporate innovative solutions into designs, and drive the continuous improvement of internal processes and design standards within the structural engineering department.
* Play a pivotal role in project meetings by presenting structural design concepts and solutions to clients and stakeholders and overseeing the accurate preparation of structural engineering documents in compliance with industry standards.
* Contribute expertise in legal forensic engineering cases as necessary, ensuring compliance with Australian standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements.
* Manage departmental tasks, including the oversight of KPIs and turnaround times, certifying and signing off on design documentation, and playing a key role in the management and operational improvement of the departmental group.
Qualifications & Expertise:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
* At least 10 years of professional experience in structural design and analysis, preferably with exposure to a variety of project types (residential, commercial, industrial).
* Expertise in structural modeling software and CAD tools.
* Solid knowledge of Australian Standards and Building Codes.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing projects and teams.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
