To undertake planned preventative and reactive building maintenance, painting, and decoration duties. To repair and maintain the building fabric, fixtures, and fittings to all Trust properties, and all properties covered by any current Service Level Agreements. To undertake other duties within the job description as requested/directed by your line manager and estates manager.
Main duties of the job
1. Painting and decorating all hospital property, internally and externally, to a high quality and acceptable craft standards and approved methods of working.
2. Work to include general painting and decorating and specialist wall coatings and finishes, including spray application (e.g., Portatone and Portaflek) and specialist wallpapering (including contract wide width), varnishing, and wall washing.
3. Plan and organise work, liaising with other members of staff and patients on a daily basis to ensure work is specified correctly and undertaken in accordance with user requirements with minimal disruption to all staff, wards, and departments.
4. Prepare working area efficiently and in an organised manner, including removal of all furniture, fittings, and fixtures, and re-fixing on completion.
5. Work in potentially hazardous areas and confined spaces, taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury, and damage in accordance with Trust and department Health and Safety policies, procedures, and safe working practices.
6. Interpret technical detailed manuals, undertake fault diagnosis, and solve maintenance problems. Communicate technical knowledge to others, particularly in the safe use of access equipment.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Painting and decorating apprenticeship - Minimum 2 years continuous experience in the industry.
* Good all-round knowledge of painting and decorating techniques.
Qualifications/Training
* City and Guilds Advanced Craft Certificate or NVQ Equivalent
