People Operations Manager (Part or Full-time 32 – 37 hours per week)
Hybrid working with 2 days per week in our Preston Office (PR1). We can be flexible between 32 - 37 hours per week, this role can be over 4 or 5 days if part-time or 5 days full time.
A glance at the role and LPPA
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Manager to join our organisation. This role will be responsible for overseeing and managing People and Culture policy, processes and advice across LPPA, which includes an employee population of 350 employees and supporting approximately 20 managers.
You will be an experienced People Manager/Business Partner who brings sound knowledge and experience across a wide range of HR activities. You will have the ability to work independently with minimal support, ensuring the efficient implementation of HR policies, practices, and initiatives.
You will be confident and credible, with the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues at all levels and a trusted adviser to managers. Your role will encompass a broad range of HR activities, including employee relations, policy development and compliance with employment law.
The role has a wide scope and you will be expected to bring and use the knowledge and experience you have acquired in your career to date to work with Head of People and Culture to help shape and drive the function forward - this includes leading and participating on various projects and initiatives aimed at improving the employee experience and developing a great place to work.

What you’ll be doing
* The delivery of a high quality and effective operational service to LPPA managers and employees
* Establish and monitor service levels (including quality standards) for the People team
* Drive the cyclical People processes (e.g. performance management) obtaining buy in and ownership from line managers
* Oversee the provision of effective Employee Relations case management, providing support to the People Adviser where necessary and acting as an escalation point for complex issues
* Continually seek ways to improve processes by maximising the functionality in the various HR systems to oversee the maintenance of data input and improve service and the employee/manager experience
* Lead the development and maintenance of a suite of management information which provides greater insight and informs decision making
* Draft and coordinate the production of regular reports for the Head of People & Culture and the Director of Finance, People & Culture
* Work with and support the wider People & Culture team on the design and implementation of projects, plans and initiatives that support the People strategy and business plan
* Build good working relationships with all line managers to better understand their needs and provide appropriate employee related support
* Provide leadership, direction and personal development opportunities to the People Operations team, creating an engaged and motivated team
What we need from you
Essential:
* CIPD qualified with a desire for continuous learning and increasing professional competence
* Up to date knowledge of employment law
* Proven experience in a similar HR managerial role and in leading the performance of an HR team
* Strong case work experience and of coaching managers in the application of best practice
* Excellent knowledge of relevant HR policies and procedures
* A confident self-starter with sound judgement and decision-making skills
* Experience of utilising HR systems to improve HR reporting, processes and employee experience
* Able to adapt quickly to change and drive through effective implementation of plans
* Focused on delivery and quality with strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
* Ability to evaluate issues and to deliver solutions within a team environment, including excellent logical thinking and problem-solving skills
* Strong organisation, planning and time management skills
* Flexible with proven ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
* Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
* A commitment to providing great customer service and enhancing the employee experience
