An exciting opportunity within the Cancer Data Team has arisen. The role involves being fundamental in the tracking of patients through the Cancer Pathway ensuring timely diagnostics. You will work in a multidisciplinary team and be an effective team player in a fast-paced environment.
Working within Cancer Services, this role is to monitor the diagnostic pathway of patients to ensure timely diagnosis. As a team player, you will perform a number of key tasks including monitoring numerous IT platforms, data entry, and liaising with other departments to ensure appointments are expedited.
You will be working with a friendly committed team and supported by band 3 and 4 cancer pathway coordinators, the Patient Access Team Leader, and a Patient Access Supervisor.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities for the role include:
1. Coordinating and attending specific MDT meetings which will include regular communication with the lead clinician.
2. Undertaking collection and provision of data in line with local requirements.
3. Taking a proactive role in the local collection of national audit data.
4. Overseeing patient tracking of suspected/diagnosed Cancer Pathway to ensure that patients follow cancer pathways and receive diagnostic tests and treatment in a timely manner.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Recognised ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) qualification or equivalent
* Experience in Microsoft Word/Excel
Knowledge
* Knowledge of cancer waiting times and standards
* Good general knowledge of medical terminology
* Knowledge of cancer audits
* Knowledge of the cancer Peer Review Process
* Previous experience of tracking cancer patients
Skills
* Good general standard of education
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
* Data analysis and production of reports
Experience
* Experience of using various computer software systems
* Knowledge of the Somerset Cancer Registry NHS experience
* Experience in all aspects of Trust clinical systems i.e. PAS, CRIS etc.
