We require an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Perfusion Scientist to join our team at LHCH.
Specialising in the full range of adult cardiac surgery, we perform approximately 2000 procedures per annum through six operating theatres.
Main duties of the job
The applicant will provide Clinical Perfusion and associated specialist services as part of a team of 13 Clinical Perfusionists and must hold full registration with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists GB& I.

Job responsibilities
You will provide a full range of adult cardiopulmonary bypass and associated therapies to our patients covering a 24/7 rota with core working hours 8am-6pm Mon-Fri.
Reporting to Perfusion Management, a commitment to the on call out of hours service is essential.

Qualifications & Education
Essential
* Educated to MSc level in Perfusion Science, or equivalent
* Accredited by the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland
* Professional Registration with College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland.
* Evidence of Continual Professional Development.
Desirable
* Evidence of Advanced Training in Perfusion Techniques
* Advanced Certificate from College of Clinical Perfusion Scientist of Great Britain and Ireland.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* Postgraduate knowledge of routine and specialised clinical techniques, e.g., Ventricular Assist Devices, Vacuum Assisted Venous Drainage, Blood Conservation, IntraAortic Balloon Counter-pulsation.
* Able to work within and outside of the department, with credibility out of area.
* Deliver specialist training where appropriate. Knowledge of clinical hazard & emergency procedures.
* Up-to-date with latest developments.
* Five years post accreditation OR relevant clinical experience
* Knowledge of Point of Care Testing
* Familiar with complex aortic surgery.
Desirable
* Knowledge of specialised perfusion techniques.
* Awareness of NHS Plan and relevant Service Frameworks
* Evidence of Service Development contributions.
* Evidence of policy/protocol development and post incident reporting.
* Published author/co-author of peer-reviewed scientific literature.
