As the Payroll Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing accurate and timely payroll processing for our US, Canadian and Mexican employees. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of payroll systems, taxation, compliance, and excellent attention to detail. This is a crucial role within our organization, ensuring payroll operations run smoothly and efficiently. What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be: 1. Payroll Management: Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for US, Canadian and Mexican employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and government regulations. Review and validate timekeeping records, employee deductions, and other payroll-related data to ensure accurate calculations. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial regulations, including tax withholding, garnishments, and statutory deductions. Manage processing of payroll taxes and resolve any state/federal notices, manage new tax account setup. 2. Team Supervision and Collaboration: Lead and supervise a team of payroll administrators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data with other systems and processes. Maintain effective communication with employees and provide assistance in resolving payroll-related inquiries or issues. 3. Payroll Systems and Process Improvement: Utilize payroll software and systems effectively, ensuring data accuracy, system integrity, and efficiency. Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and streamlining payroll operations. Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation, tax regulations, and labor laws in the US and Canada, and ensure compliance in payroll practices. 4. Reporting and Auditing: Generate regular payroll reports, including payroll summaries, tax reports, and labor cost analysis. Perform periodic audits to validate payroll data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls and external regulations. Collaborate with internal and external auditors during payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and support. What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education) We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who: Required Experience & Skills At least 5 years of experience in payroll administration, with a focus on US and Canadian payroll Thorough understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and employment standards in both the US and Canada Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems, such as ADP, Ceridian, or Workday Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information Ideal Experience & Skills Experience managing and supervising a team of payroll administrators Experience using Ceridian Dayforce Experience processing union and pension payrolls Education & Certifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or other relevant certifications are a plus Travel & Working Environment Travel 0% Hybrid work schedule How we live our culture Our culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
