ABOUT YOU
As the Test House Technician, you will provide mechanical testing and metallurgical preparation and examination of metallic materials. We perform work in a wide range of disciplines including welding engineering and fabrication, casting of metals/foundry practice, corrosion mechanisms, material selection, and mechanical engineering for the Rail, Automotive, Aerospace, Nuclear, and Power Generation industries.
Required skills and experience:
* HNC / HND in an engineering discipline, or relevant experience gained in an engineering-related role.
* Good communication skills, able to work independently and in a team.
* Experience working in an accredited laboratory would be an advantage.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
You will work on the mechanical testing and metallurgical preparation and examination of metallic materials. Key activities include:
* Conduct mechanical testing of materials with the use of laboratory equipment, including tensile, impact, and hardness tests.
* Perform metallurgical preparation and examination of test samples.
* Assess material conformance to required specifications and report results in a concise and accurate manner.
* Perform regular calibration of equipment and standards to ensure compliance with specifications.
* Maintain laboratory equipment to required standards and specifications.
* Metallographic preparation and examination of macros.
* Active engagement with external clients to provide a high level of service.
* Support BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 audits and internal audits.
