Key Responsibilities
* Produce products right first time, every time, in line with the Production Plan, always adhering to company policies and procedures.
* Report any issues observed relating to Safety, Quality, Sanitation, Machinery, or Throughput to the Shift Management.
* Lead and motivate staff to ensure good manufacturing and safety practices are maintained.
* Provide cover for the Shift Manager during periods of absence.
Detailed Responsibilities
* Manufacture products to the required specification, conducting regular line walks to ensure that Quality Systems and Procedures are always understood and adhered to, and that all documentation and data entries are completed accurately and in a timely manner, providing support where required.
* Conduct appropriate line walks to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are always understood and adhered to, providing support where required.
* Conduct line walks to ensure that Good Manufacturing Practices are followed, and PPE is always worn correctly, providing support where required.
* During line walks, ensure that a Clean-As-You-Go culture is followed and that all production areas and equipment are always clean and tidy, providing support where required.
* Provide support on investigations, reporting on any technical or quality issues.
* Responsible for the issue and control of knives used within allocated departments.
* Responsible for the management and control of the Toolbox and its contents within allocated departments.
* Provide support to Shift Management on any issues relating to absence.
* Escalate any improvement opportunities through your line manager or relevant stakeholder.
* Provide support to Shift Management on any performance or discipline issues.
* Manufacture and pack product, ensuring target dates as set out in the Production Plans are met, and highlighting any variances to Manufacturing Standards.
* Report any issues observed relating to Quality, Safety, Sanitation, Machinery, or Output to the Shift Management and suggest areas for improvement.
* Be available as the first point of contact for operators for issues that arise within the allocated department.
* Ensure that all tasks are conducted safely, adhering to Bakels Health & Safety Policy.
* Ensure all accidents, incidents, and near misses are reported accurately and in a timely manner.
* Promote a positive near-miss culture within the department.
* Attend Staff Briefings, 1 to 1’s, and Performance Development Reviews as required.
* Through the PDR process, become fully trained in all areas of the department. This may include some cross-training between production departments to meet customer and business needs.
