Hitachi Energy has an exciting new opportunity for a Technical Consultant. You'll be responsible for the development of advisory projects for major electricity sector agents, including distribution, transmission, retailer, and generators, helping them deal with regulatory, economic, and electricity challenges. You will assist in building and retaining long-lasting relationships with internal and external customers to support profitable growth and ongoing satisfaction.

This role will be based out of our new Birmingham City Centre location and is hybrid.
Responsibilities:
1. Identifying opportunities for new and repeating consulting business, building an internal and external network for the exchange of information.
2. Creating added value for customers and the organization, ensuring the successful outcome of transactions, contracts, and proposals, using a series of sales techniques and negotiating tactics for leading sales activities.
3. Proposing research & development projects including the scope of the budget, supporting the project management strategy including productization, modularization, and following up on new products/solutions, including ongoing support with contract management activities.
4. Conducting risk and opportunities assessments for various projects, ensuring delivery of the assignment as per the agreed contract.
5. Leading the creation of new processes and tool enhancements following the study of advanced techniques, with a lead to coach and develop subordinate colleagues.
6. Managing projects/processes, working independently with limited supervision.
7. Coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level professionals.
8. Addressing difficult and complex problems.
Background:
1. Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical power systems, or similar is required.
2. Proven experience and knowledge of the electric power industry, market, systems, and equipment.
3. Degree in electrical engineering preferred (Masters, PhD, MBA).
4. Proven experience in the design, understanding, and performance of power systems studies.
5. Knowledge in power systems analysis, as well as experience in software simulation tools such as Digsilent Powerfactory, PSCAD, ETAP, PSS/E (power systems), and/or EMTP (electronic systems).
6. Excellent communication skills at all levels; confident in presenting data.
