Overview
We are looking for a Bank Maintenance Person to join our Abbey View Nursing Home Team. The shift patterns are from 9am to 2pm, between Monday to Sunday.
Duties
To ensure general maintenance of the Nursing Home – indoors and outdoors, including general equipment and building repairs.
* Checking emergency lighting, nurse call system, etc.
* Testing fire system and recording the same.
* Maintaining records of servicing of equipment, including boiler servicing.
* Assisting with and completing Health & Safety assessments according to regulations as required.
* Partaking in on-call duties to assist with emergencies, e.g., heating, plumbing, etc.
* Assisting with minor plumbing work such as leaking taps, blocked toilets, and sinks.
* Touching up paintwork, hanging pictures, and other minor repairs such as fixing carpets, door hinges, etc.
* Cleaning the entrance of the home to ensure good first impressions at all times.
* Replacing light bulbs (electrical duties not to be carried out unless trained to do so).
* Maintaining the grounds to keep the outdoors tidy and well-maintained, including some gardening work and maintenance of hanging baskets, flower planters, etc.
* Sweeping and salting driveways and paths as required.
* Painting fences and walls as required.
* Responding to hazard warnings as directed by the Home Manager.
* Reading and understanding all maintenance records and ensuring accurate recording of jobs completed.
* Adhering to company policies, particularly confidentiality and Health & Safety.
* Non-routine duties to be authorized in advance by the Home Manager.
* All duties to be carried out with minimal disruption to the Home.
While the above is an outline, this list is not exhaustive, and you will be required to carry out any other duties as may be reasonably required.
Essential Criteria
* General practical skills and/or maintenance experience, including but not limited to basic plumbing and decorating.
* Good standard of record keeping.
* Ability to work in accordance with the Home’s health and safety policies and the code of safe working practice for maintenance premises staff.
* Must be a car driver.
* Ability to work to deadlines.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Ability to communicate well.
* Ability to respond calmly to emergencies.
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a Care Home environment.

Abbey View is the most recent addition to MD Healthcare as of August 2022. Abbey View is located in the seaside town of Bangor, Northern Ireland, situated close to the historic Bangor Abbey. The home provides nursing care for up to 25 residents across two floors.
