What you'll be doing
As the Technical Director, you'll be the key point of contact for front-line management, ensuring our operations team exceeds expectations in service excellence. Your role will involve top-notch management, leadership, customer focus, and continuous feedback, training, and development.
You'll strive for industry-leading technical and operational excellence across our client estate, ensuring 100% uptime of critical data centres and reacting efficiently and effectively in line with SLAs and KPIs.
You'll manage an operational team, including Data Centre Ops Managers, Facilities Managers, Project Managers, Tech Supervisors, and subcontractors. By leading by example, maintaining a professional appearance, and resolving client issues with innovative Mitie solutions, you'll foster a culture of high-quality customer excellence. Embracing and championing new systems and processes will be key to your success.
Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, employees, and colleagues is essential. You'll coordinate direct and subcontract labour to meet performance and contractual requirements cost-effectively. Adhering to and enforcing the Company Health & Safety policy, you'll manage and deliver additional and existing project work profitably, ensuring timely billing and assisting in developing client relationships.
Key Duties
* Leading and maintaining customer retention and satisfaction
* Attending and preparing for regular client meetings
* Promoting all Mitie service lines to deliver sustainable excellence
* Achieving P&L targets and engaging your team through regular meetings
* Presenting tenders and preparing tender strategies
* Ensuring no portfolio losses due to service issues
* Monitoring and reviewing team performance, ensuring compliance with Mitie policies and procedures
* Supporting managers with HR issues
* Ensuring client visits and audits are completed as per contract
* Driving cost savings and increasing performance
* Staying updated with technology and providing innovative solutions
* Managing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, induction, appraisal, development, and succession planning
* Fostering a professional working culture, sharing best practices, coaching, and developing your team
* Representing Mitie at key client review meetings
* Supporting sales and retention efforts, embracing and advocating for new systems and processes
What you'll need
* Electrically Qualified (Degree or HND or equivalent) with suitable experience
* High technical ability and in-depth understanding of engineering management in critical environments
* 10+ years of experience in critical environments
* Proven leadership of technical teams
* Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality systems
* Strong commercial acumen
* Excellent communication skills
* Exceptional customer focus
* Ability to represent Mitie effectively at both internal and external meetings
