The Electrically Biased Handyperson is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks within a commercial office setting, with a focus on electrical work. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, building maintenance practices, and general handyman skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the building's facilities and addressing maintenance issues promptly and efficiently. Job Responsibilities Perform routine electrical maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, ballasts, and fuses. Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults, including outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures. Test and maintain emergency lighting systems. Install and maintain electrical equipment, such as power outlets and data points. Adhere to all electrical safety regulations and best practices. General Maintenance: Perform minor plumbing repairs, such as fixing leaks and unclogging drains. Carry out carpentry tasks, including hanging doors, repairing furniture, and installing shelving. Conduct painting and decorating work, as needed. Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Building Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the building's facilities, identifying and reporting any maintenance issues. Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving measures. Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including maintenance logs and inventory lists. Assist with the procurement of materials and supplies. Coordinate with contractors and vendors as needed. Qualifications needed: Proven experience as a handyperson or similar role. Valid electrical certification or license (as required by local regulations). Strong knowledge of electrical systems, building maintenance practices, and safety regulations. Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. There will be some form of supporting/directing team members as required. Ability to perform manual labour tasks.
