You will be an expert resource and provide advanced level of clinical expertise to professionals and families within Chailey Clinical Services and SCFT. You will manage a complex caseload and undertake a specialist role as an advanced practitioner in the assessment and management of children and young people with complex neuro-disability.

Main duties of the job
1. To be an autonomous Clinical Specialist working with children and young people with highly complex neurodisability within physiotherapy department at Chailey Clinical Services.
2. To be an expert resource and provide advanced level of clinical expertise to professionals and families within Chailey Clinical Services and SCFT.
3. To manage a complex caseload as an autonomous Clinical Specialist.
4. To line manage the physiotherapy team, including therapists and assistants, at Chailey Clinical Services.
5. To be involved in recruitment, appraisals, supervision, sickness and absence reporting and disciplinary/performance management of staff within physiotherapy team.
6. To have responsibility for the physiotherapy budget at CCS in conjunction with senior managers at CCS and SCFT.
7. To develop and deliver teaching and training courses/programmes to meet the needs of professionals and carers in specialist areas.
8. To work on service improvements and new services within CCS in conjunction with senior management at CCS and SCFT.
9. To work with Physiotherapy Professional Lead and colleagues within CCS and SCFT to ensure effective professional practice and to promote the principles of good governance.
10. To translate research into clinical practice to ensure and improve clinical effectiveness.

Job responsibilities
1. To maintain high professional standards engendering confidence in the Physiotherapy profession in line with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
2. To be an autonomous expert in their designated clinical specialism within CCS and SCFT.
3. To manage the delegated budget for the physiotherapy team at CCS ensuring that the required services are provided within budget.
4. To ensure the staff members under their management complete statutory and mandatory training as required. To identify staff training needs and ensure staff develop and maintain the required skills to deliver a high quality service.
5. To be responsible for the clinical practice development of all members of physiotherapy team through arrangement of clinical supervision and teaching within clinical environment.
6. To support clinical practice by maintaining a robust model of clinical supervision.
7. To identify staff training needs and ensure staff develop and maintain the required skills to deliver a high quality service.
8. To keep team caseloads under continuous review using recognised national guidelines and identify resource issues that may impact on delivery of care.
9. To monitor use and availability of therapy equipment, ensuring it is maintained within a serviceable condition and that staff are competent to use it within their scope of practice.
10. To manage local complaints as per SCFT policy involving senior managers at CCS as required.
11. To be responsible for own personal development, including keeping up to date with statutory and mandatory training and training relevant to role.
12. To demonstrate a commitment to ongoing development of own and others advanced skills with the team.
13. To ensure knowledge and adherence to relevant SCFT policies and procedures by the Physiotherapy team.
14. To be proactive in diffusing and investigating situations that may lead to formal complaints or clinical incidents ensuring appropriate action is taken by all concerned.
15. To participate in teaching and mentoring of staff, students and rotational professionals of other disciplines and agencies within specialist paediatric area.
16. To monitor use and availability of therapy equipment, ensuring it is maintained within a serviceable condition and that staff are competent to use it within their scope of practice.
17. To ensure the promotion of an environment that meets Health and Safety Legislation and SCFT policies through regular risk assessment and management of identified clinical or environmental risk.
18. To keep an up to date CPD portfolio.
19. To be responsible for physiotherapy staff concerning administration and record keeping according to Trust and Departmental regulations concerning the format and security of patient records and the Data Protection Act.

Qualifications
