Job summary As a Sonographer you would be expected to provide clinical excellence and assist in managing the day-to-day organisation of the clinical area providing effective and efficient leadership. The ultrasound service operates 5 days a week with the possible future development to extend to a 6 or 7 day working week. Opportunities to work evenings and weekends are also available. We will consider full and part time hours. Flexible/ extended hours may be considered in relation to existing departmental commitments. As an imaging service we are committed to providing increased opportunities to gain more experience in specialist areas and professional development. The department hosts undergraduate radiography students on placement from Cardiff University so you will be expected to be actively involved in their training and supervision as part of your role, whilst supporting the wider team. All candidates must be enthusiastic about teaching and supporting learners in the clinical environment. The successful candidate will be based at the Royal Gwent Hospital and will be required to work at other sites within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board as per service requirements. Main duties of the job The duties of this post includes, To work autonomously within the ultrasound service. To be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality images and reports in a professional and caring manner. To approve requests and prioritise referrals according to clinical need. To support the Ultrasound Service Manager and Deputy in the delivery of the service The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
