The Opportunity We're embarking on an exciting digital transformation, evolving our service into a sophisticated eCommerce marketplace for home services (Broadband, Energy, Insurance, etc.). This transformation will revolutionise how people discover, compare, and purchase essential home-moving services. As our new Product Designer, you'll lead the design of our digital-first purchasing experience, creating intuitive flows and engaging designs that help customers make confident decisions about their home services. Ideal Experience We're looking for candidates with proven experience working on major marketplace platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com, or Amazon. You should have a demonstrable track record of improving crucial eCommerce metrics including conversion rates, average order value, cart abandonment rates, time to purchase, and search success rates. Experience with subscription or recurring payment models is essential, as is a background in designing for regulated industries. The Challenge We're transforming our customer-facing platform from a primarily phone-based model to a powerful eCommerce marketplace where users can: Compare and purchase home services instantly Personalise their home move package based on their specific needs Access transparent pricing and service comparisons Manage their entire home move journey through a single digital interface Complete seamless checkout processes for multiple services Track and manage their purchased services in real-time What You'll Do Design our new eCommerce user experience from browse to purchase, including product discovery, comparison tools, and checkout flows Create compelling product pages that help users make informed decisions about complex services Develop intuitive navigation and filtering systems for our service marketplace Design dynamic pricing displays and comparison features Conduct UX research and testing to validate your design concepts and optimise conversion Create and maintain our design system to support a consistent shopping experience Develop a mobile-first approach to service discovery and purchase Design personalisation features that help users find relevant services quickly Required Skills and Experience Proven experience designing eCommerce or marketplace platforms, with at least 3 years focused on digital purchasing experiences Demonstrable experience in: Designing high-conversion product discovery journeys Optimising checkout flows with conversion rates of 3% Creating compelling product comparison features Implementing search and filtering systems that drive sales Building persuasive product pages Designing mobile-first, online shopping experiences Creating upsell and cross-sell user journeys Implementing post-purchase flows and customer accounts Expert knowledge of: eCommerce UX patterns and best practices Conversion rate optimisation techniques Shopping cart abandonment reduction strategies Product page and listing page design Search and filtering systems Pricing display patterns User interface design principles Information architecture Responsive web design Accessibility standards (WCAG) Proficiency in: Figma (advanced) Prototyping tools (Principle, ProtoPie, or similar) Design systems and component libraries User flow mapping tools Basic HTML/CSS understanding Experience with: A/B testing and data-driven design Heuristic evaluation User journey mapping Service design principles Shopping funnel optimisation Google Analytics and heat mapping tools Portfolio Requirements We'd love to see your portfolio with examples of: Before/after conversion rate improvements you've achieved Mobile shopping experiences you've designed Complex product comparison interfaces Checkout flow optimisations Search and filtering systems Product landing pages Shopping cart experiences Customer account dashboards Professional Qualities The ideal candidate will bring a strong portfolio that showcases their user-centred design solutions and excellent visual design skills, with particular attention to branding, layout, and micro-interactions. You should be able to translate complex problems into elegant, user-friendly solutions while effectively communicating your design decisions and their impact. Experience working closely with developers to ensure high-quality implementation is essential. Additionally, we'll be particularly impressed by candidates who bring an understanding of Jobs To Be Done methodology, familiarity with the energy, broadband, or insurance sectors, and strong commercial acumen. Experience working remotely and as part of an agile product team, including participation in Scrum meetings and product sprints, would be advantageous but is not essential.
