Salary - £32,500 - £45,000
Hours - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week with flexible working
Holiday - 25 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays), plus 2 days over the Christmas/New Year period set by the firm.
About the Accountant role

We have an exciting role for an Accountant to join TC Kent in our Rochester office.
We are looking for someone who can lead some of their finance team colleagues to deliver and present monthly management accounts, cashflows and other relevant financial information to either Charity, Chartered Body or Membership Association clients. Occasionally, there will be some exposure to commercial clients.
You will also speak to the clients (this can be to budget holders to senior management teams). You will be leading on a varied but small portfolio, where you will be the lead person.
We are not a typical firm of accountants, so clients are not held by partners. Progression is encouraged with the right attitude and aptitude. We are growing as a division and as the lead for 'Third Sector' for TC Group, you will be uniquely placed to be seen and to develop.
Key responsibilities of an Accountant will include:
* preparing management accounts to a 'year-end' standard to be audited by top firms including lead schedule reconciliations and Wages Journal
* preparing budgets and work with the clients' teams to respond to ad-hoc requests
* quarterly VAT returns to complete on behalf of clients
* monthly summary cash flow monitoring
* monthly reporting - detailed profit & loss including departmental analysis, variances, balance sheet and any updates to forecasting including conversion from existing Excel reports to Power BI
* annual year end audit file preparation
* support during the audit of the statutory accounts
* budget preparation, review and liaison with all budget holders
* preparation and submission of the charity commission return
* monthly visits (in person or virtually) to discuss the management accounts and any other finance matters with the nation heads and COO
* attendance at Finance committee or Audit & Risk meetings throughout the year
* attendance at four Board meetings to present the current financial position including preparation time.
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
* 5 years+ experience either within practice or industry
* ACCA / ACA Qualified or nearly qualified
* you need to have good basic accounting skills and enjoy a varied role
* good communication skills are essential, you will need to be able to speak clearly about why numbers change and talk to clients about what has happened in their organisation
* able to build relationships and communicate well with colleagues of all levels.
And will be for people looking for an 'industry' role in a 'practice' setting.
