JOB SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for the rebuild and repair of drilling rig floor wrenches/Iron roughnecks. This will include physically rebuilding the wrench units, managing the shop helpers, documenting the process, managing parts and assembly, tracking labor hours per unit, and final signoff of completed units. The individual must be a team player, organized, meet deadlines, and handle highly stressful situations. Electrical, hydraulics, and mechanical expertise is essential to the success of this position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Rebuild, Repair, or Refurbish Drilling Rig Floor Wrench/Iron Roughnecks to as new conditions.
2. Manage documentation required for tracking and verifying rebuilds and repairs.
3. Delegate tasks to shop helpers and other technicians.
4. Manage parts and assemblies required for rebuild (required parts lists, reordering inventory, outsourcing work).
5. Assist field-level tech with troubleshooting issues when expertise is needed.
6. Occasionally follow new rebuild to field for deployment and ensure functionality.
7. Continuously understand and grow knowledge in Drilling process, new technology, etc.
8. Development of monitoring and diagnostics tools.
9. Contribute to the development of Best Practices/Standards.
10. Document common troubleshooting problems that are first identified through troubleshooting experiences.
11. Travel will be required at times to support rig up of rebuilt/repaired units and troubleshooting any issues.
12. Pass on common issues or technical improvements to technical team for continued improvement.
13. Maintain company issued tools and be knowledgeable and skillful in the use of these tools.
14. Compliance with safety standards, regulations, reporting and certifications.
15. Complete required paperwork, documentation, and billing accurately and timely.
16. Utilization of time management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. 4 Years’ experience in the field, shop, or manufacturing facility working on wrenches/Iron Roughnecks.
2. Working knowledge in the Oil and Gas Industry preferred.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is required frequently to use hands and digits to handle or feel work material. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Lifting/carry up to 50lbs occasionally, 20lbs frequently, and 5 to 10lbs daily. Must be able to use/wear applicable personal protective equipment which may include but is not limited to safety-toed footwear (with ankle height support), back support belt, hearing protection, safety eyewear with side shields, gloves, and hard hat. May occasionally be required to wear approved/applicable respiratory protection equipment (respiratory protection guidelines would apply with regard to medical evaluation and fit testing of equipment). Frequent ascent/descent of stairs/steps, especially at field locations. Must be able to respond quickly to an emergency situation.
