About The Role
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Product Service Solution Engineer in Managed Desktop Services (MDS) to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Solihull.
Working with cutting-edge Microsoft technologies in a dynamic IT environment, this role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimising infrastructure components to ensure high availability and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
1. Provides technical information and support on the evaluation, installation, acquisition, and use of the MDS service.
2. Works with Problem Management to document root cause and potential solutions to problems and recommends changes (including fundamental ones) to system configurations to prevent recurrences.
3. Evaluates usage patterns and recommends methods for improving the information on the Incident and problem resolution knowledge base.
4. Manages, establishes, and troubleshoots issues with the wider MS Service team, including detailing issues in service process/procedure and recommending improvements.
5. Implements new functions and facilitates migration to more modern platforms supporting the MDS Standard Service, testing and implementing new releases and providing team training on operating the upgraded service.
6. Serves as consultant in specialty areas related to that concern a variety of functional operations associated with the MDS Standard Service and provides technical assistance and advice.
7. Manage Windows endpoint deployment, configuration, and security using Intune, Autopilot, and other Microsoft tools.
8. Maintain and enhance device compliance policies, security baselines, and conditional access in line with industry best practices.
9. Maintain accurate documentation and provide technical guidance to colleagues and end-users.
10. Ensure endpoint security compliance, including BitLocker, Defender for Endpoint, and vulnerability management.
11. Work closely with stakeholders to continuously improve user experience while maintaining security and operational integrity.
12. Supports planning and delivery of MDS Standard Service support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance and/or training, in response to customer requests through the Service management toolset.
13. Acts as 3rd Line technical support, diagnosing and assigning tickets to the appropriate resolver group, partner or local technician and monitors the status until the incident has been satisfactorily resolved.
About You
Requirements
1. Proven experience in Windows device management and endpoint administration.
2. Strong expertise in Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, and SCCM (with a focus on migration).
3. Experience in device provisioning, Windows 10/11 imaging, and profile management.
4. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 security, conditional access policies, and identity protection.
5. Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell required).
6. Understanding of networking fundamentals, Group Policy, and Active Directory/Azure AD.
7. Experience with MDM/MAM policies, compliance policies, and Windows Update for Business.
8. This role will be required as a minimum to obtain and retain BPSS clearance and depending on the MDS Standard Service may require SC clearance.
9. Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102).
10. Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate (MD-100/MD-101).
11. ITIL Foundation Certification (Preferred).
12. CompTIA A+ / Network+ (Beneficial).
13. 2+ years of experience in IT infrastructure support or a related role.
14. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
15. Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
