Our recently appointed Assistant Director of Strategic Property and Director of Place have undertaken a review of the directorate’s services and are restructuring to align all council property related functions and property management.
Reporting to the Head of Facilities Management and Capital Projects, your role will be to act as the professional client on behalf of the Council in all stages of capital construction projects from inception to completion, involving co-ordination of all stakeholder input, design management, progress monitoring and contract delivery. To manage and deliver a programme of projects across the borough including major refurbishment works and new builds.
You will deliver an agreed capital programme of work and individual projects, with agreed cost and timescales to meet the client’s expectations in respect of service, quality, timeliness, communication and value for money. To provide expert advice to internal and external clients demonstrating market knowledge and specialist areas of expertise.
You will manage a small team of Project Managers and will work with the delivery team to select appropriate design and construction solutions when required. Liaison with technical, statutory and advisory parties; acting as key focal point for the projects in the Council including the instruction of the supply chain. To advise the Council on best practice capital project management and play a part in leading the adoption of industry leading tools, systems, processes and documentation enabling the delivery of consistent high-quality services to clients’ departments.
You will manage internal and external resources necessary to deliver projects through timely liaison with key parties, analysing information and data received and prioritising actions and responses, including risk management, taking appropriate action where necessary. To manage responses and communication to complex professional or politically sensitive issues within the area of responsibility, including Councillors, residents, schools and internal stakeholders, to deliver optimum results for Tameside.
About You:
You will be a Chartered Surveyor, have a relevant professional qualification and/or significant experience in a relevant area, preferably with leadership experience in a local authority setting, you will be able to work at pace with enthusiasm and drive and be able to engage with and influence a range of partners at all levels.
