As the Head of Sustainability across the UK and International business you will report directly into the board. You will be responsible for leading and driving the sustainability initiatives across all projects and teams. Your role will be a key part of how we operate, and you will be responsible for reviewing, developing and continuing the implementation of our sustainability strategy. You will lead a team and ensure they are promoting and developing the business to ensure we are using the most sustainable and up to date practices throughout our projects.
What you’ll be doing:
* Work across the company, building relationships and effectively communicating to ensure a successful strategy, policies and procedures. Ensure the best practices are being used and continually educated to demonstrate the highest level of sustainability and environmental practices across all works.
* Develop and lead a team to support project compliance with the environmental and sustainability requirements within the UK and Internationally. Ensuring your team are able to provide projects with technical advice, guidance and support on environmental and sustainability matters.
* Review and develop the blu-3 sustainability strategy. Continue the implementation of the strategy and work proactively with project teams and senior leaders to ensure this is being embedded into the works.
* Build positive relationships externally and represent the company in sustainability matters.
* Support the Estimating Team with all aspects of environmental and sustainability responses for bids and PQQs to assist in work winning.
* Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, proactive working and continuous improvement.
* Provide teams with any updates on UK and international policy, environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks. Create briefings and toolbox talks to ensure these are clearly communicated and implemented in to works by our site teams.
* Conduct and review audits and investigations on environmental practices. Review any common themes and root causes with actions to avoid recurrence.
* Review and maintain reporting systems to monitor project environmental & sustainability performance.
* Review and develop blu-3 sustainability and environmental procedural requirements including policies and forms to ensure they remains compliant with legislation and best practice guidance. Where there are changes, ensure these are communicated by the environmental team to projects.
* Work closely with the senior leaders in the business to further develop and implement projects to deliver new and/or improved operational and strategic initiatives to meet ESG expectations and reporting requirements.
* Any other reasonable requests as required by Management.

What we’re looking for:
* Proven experience gained within the construction and engineering industry within the UK and overseas.
* Demonstrable experience within a role as a leader of ESG / sustainability.
* Proven track record of working collaboratively and driving teams to maximise sustainability.
* Educated to degree level in relevant field (Environmental science, Environmental management, Sustainability etc.)
* Minimum Practitioner Membership with IEMA or similar professional membership.
* Experience of ASHRAE 90.1 OR 90.2.
* Experience in creating and implementing carbon reduction strategies.
