Northumberland Mental Health Support Team has an exciting opportunity for 2 Senior Band 6 Educational Mental Health Practitioners. One post is a full-time position in the Central area (Ashington/Bedlington) and the other post is 0.8 WTE in the North (Alnwick/Coquet) partnership of schools.
This demonstrates our commitment to career progression of the EMHPs within the service, expanding our mental health in schools' teams.
We are looking for a qualified Wellbeing Practitioner with 2 years of post-qualifying experience, experience of delivering IAPT low intensity supervision.
The role will provide consolidated and enhanced clinical skills in the Senior Wellbeing Practitioner role, leading the co-ordination and delivery of evidence-based interventions for children and young people in education with mild to moderate mental health problems. The post holder will provide enhanced Systems Working Skills and a lead role in the service development.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide consolidated & Enhanced Clinical Skills in the role of a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner.
2. To deliver evidence-based intervention for children and young people in education settings with mild to moderate mental health problems.
3. To provide enhanced System Working Skills.
4. To provide support to other professionals in their Development.
5. To ensure understanding of Relevant Legislation for the role of a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner.
6. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
Job responsibilities
1. Help children and young people within these settings who present with a deterioration in their emotional/mental wellbeing access the necessary support.
2. Support and facilitate staff in education settings and EMHPs/CWPs that are supervised.
3. Work with education and community environments to access specialist mental health services.
4. Demonstrate enhanced skills, experience, and competence in low-intensity interventions.
5. Practice evidence-based intervention independently under guidance and supervisory support.
6. Contribute to decision making and agree and accept appropriate referrals.
7. Conduct accurate assessments of risk.
8. Support EMHPs/CWPs in signposting referrals for children and young people.
9. Engage in and provide robust case management and clinical supervision.
10. Lead on and contribute to the development of clinical materials or training materials.
11. Coordinate and deliver a range of psychoeducation and training.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Professional Registration
* Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
* Basic literacy and numeracy qualifications.
* Relevant knowledge acquired through successful completion of post-graduate diploma in Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing.
* Relevant knowledge acquired through completion of or working towards the Senior Wellbeing Practitioner programme.
* Membership/registration of relevant professional body.
* Post-qualification training in an EMHP or CWP role.
Experience and knowledge
* Experience working with children and young people and understanding the education system in England is desirable.
* Experience of delivering supervision (ideally CBT informed).
* At least 2 years post-qualification experience as a CWP or EMHP.
* Experience of delivering interventions in education settings.
* Experience of delivering CBT informed practice.
* Experience of multi-agency collaborative working.
* Experience of monitoring performance & outcomes.
Other requirements
* Valid driving licence and ability to use a car for work purposes.
