Veetee is an ambient foods and rice company, a major supplier to retailers, wholesalers, and other food manufacturing businesses. We have two factories and three warehouses in Rochester, Kent, one manufacturing site in India and a Sales & Distribution team in the USA.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday: 9am to 5.30pm (1 hour lunch) - On-site full time

Job Purpose:
We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager that will be responsible for maintaining and implementing the required standards for food safety, legality and quality, including daily compliance with BRC standards for the Veetee Foods operations. This role will also be responsible for managing the Quality Assurance Department and NPD at Veetee Foods with support functions.
Responsibilities:
* Implementation of defined systems and procedures to enable accurate assessment, monitoring, and documentation of quality in a timely manner.
* To maintain and continually improve the site QMS to ensure it remains robust and fit for purpose including systems of internal audits, hygiene, HACCP, traceability, specifications, supplier approval, work instructions, customer complaints & focus, non-conformance, concessions, quarantines, corrective actions, and pest control monitoring.
* To ensure the QMS documents are maintained and accessible to the relevant key personnel throughout the business.
* To ensure production runs adhere to agreed specifications and standards.
* Ensure all QA daily tasks are completed and non - conformances are addressed and resolved.
* Report and act upon non-conformance issues raised in house and by the customer. This includes monitoring of hold stock and disposals.
* QA team planning against start of year plans and regular assessment of performance against targets through reviews, communication, and development / training.
* Train all factory staff on BRC, customer and related documentation and ensure training records are maintained appropriately.
* Monitor and investigate customer complaints and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
* Publish monthly KPIs dashboard to Senior Management including critical concerns & continuous monitoring trends.
* Report daily activities & concerns to Technical Manager.
* Micro monitoring and reporting of any issues, this includes ATP swabbing.
* Ordering and maintaining stocks required for all QA activities.
* Liaise with Management team to establish issues/ improvements needed and implement operating and specification requirements and maintain a suitable monitoring system.
* Manage quality of third party supplied products.
* Work with production Shift Supervisors to deal with daily factory issues.
* Maintain and improve all remaining aspects of the Quality Management System.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
* Previous experience in a similar role in the Food Industry is essential.
* Thorough knowledge of Food safety legislation and understanding and application of labelling requirements.
* Previous experience with technical specification management and use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software such as SAP or Axapta or Microsoft Dynamics.
* Experience in handling customer complaints, NPD processes and long shelf life (ambient) products required.
* Understanding of food microbiology.
* Previous experience of third party audits would be desirable.
* A degree level qualification in food science or related discipline.
* HACCP qualification and Food Hygiene and/or Advanced Food Hygiene Training.
* Excellent people management skills.
* Organisation/prioritisation and problem solving skills.
* May need to be contactable out of hours for emergencies.
