We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and hard-working Plasma Engineer to join our team in the development of our flagship satellite designed for Ultra-Low Earth Orbit (ULEO) missions. Operating in ULEO offers game-changing benefits to satellite applications, but it requires a propulsion system capable of counteracting drag from atmospheric particles. Plasma System Design: Design, assemble, test, and optimize plasma thrusters and cathodes with minimal supervision, contributing to the development of cutting-edge propulsion technology.
Diagnostic Techniques: Utilize advanced plasma diagnostics, including Faraday probes, Langmuir probes, and other relevant equipment, to analyze and optimize plasma performance.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including propulsion, electronics, and satellite engineers, to integrate plasma subsystems into the overall satellite architecture.
Educational Background: Advanced degree (MEng, MSc, or PhD) in Aerospace Engineering, Plasma Science, or a related field, with a strong focus on low-pressure plasma physics and vacuum technology.
Industry Experience: Relevant experience in plasma research and development, with a track record of successful projects in plasma engines, various plasma sources, PVD, accelerometers or other,
Hands-On Skills: Proficiency in designing, assembling, testing, and optimizing plasma thrusters and cathodes, with experience using electronics lab equipment and plasma diagnostics.
Experience in research and development projects, including PhD research related to plasma and electric propulsion systems.
Experience in planning and executing complex multi-parametric optimization tests for plasma devices.
CAD Proficiency: Basic experience with CAD modeling and drawings, using tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX.
Equity and Competitive Salary: NewOrbit offers competitive salaries and company ownership stakes, rewarding dedication and hard work with a tangible stake in the business you are helping to build.
If feasible, we would also like to invite you to our facilities in Reading as part of the final interview. Here you will get the chance to meet the rest of our team and tour our laboratories and office spaces.
