The Role As Librarian, you will play a key role in managing a vibrant library that serves both staff and students. Your responsibilities will include: - Library Management – Overseeing the library’s daily operations, ensuring it remains a welcoming and engaging space. - Resource Development – Maintaining an up-to-date collection of books, digital resources, and research materials. - Information Skills Training – Delivering structured information literacy sessions, supporting students with research techniques and academic resources. - Promoting Reading for Pleasure – Encouraging a culture of reading through engaging activities, displays, and collaborations with teaching staff. - Team Leadership – Managing and supporting an Assistant Librarian and Library Assistant. - Library Systems & Budget – Maintaining the Library Management System (e.g., Heritage) and overseeing the library budget. - Archives & Research Support – Managing historical records and responding to research enquiries. - School & Community Engagement – Working closely with staff, students, and external library networks to enhance learning experiences. What We’re Looking For ✅ A degree or postgraduate qualification in Librarianship or Information Management (desirable). ✅ At least 5 years’ experience in a school or academic library setting. ✅ Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a small team. ✅ Excellent IT and research skills, including experience with Library Management Systems (e.g., Heritage) and online databases. ✅ A passion for promoting literacy and independent learning among young people. ✅ Strong knowledge of children’s and young adult literature. ✅ A commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
