The Cancer Services Division at UHB delivers world-class cancer care to patients from across the country, with a range of specialised services in oncology and haematology, delivered by a team of specialist pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and assistant technical officers.

The ever-growing and expanding service is looking for motivated individuals to assist in building healthier lives for our patients by developing the aseptic service, which is critical to the treatment of our oncology and haematology patients.
The role will include a variety of tasks, enabling you to develop your knowledge and skills through structured education and training opportunities. It provides a rewarding opportunity to assist in the preparation of cytotoxic drugs, monoclonal antibodies, and innovative treatments such as clinical trials.
Main duties of the job
Senior assistant technical officers assist in the production of aseptically prepared products within the unit. The role includes the following tasks:
1. Assembly of raw materials
2. Transferring products into the unit
3. Aseptic preparation in isolators
4. Cleaning of the unit
5. Dispensing ready-made products
6. Dispatching products for delivery
7. Using computer systems
The position is predominantly based at Melchett Road Aseptic Unit, but cross-site work at Heartlands Aseptic Dispensing Unit may be required.
Full training will be provided to ensure you feel confident in this role. This includes an in-house training pack as well as the opportunity to attend external courses.

Qualifications
* GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)
Experience
* Evidence of previous work experience relevant to the position such as warehouse or stores, reception duties, etc.
* Evidence of experience within a team environment
* Experienced in customer relations
* Understanding of Health and Safety at Work, manual handling, and COSHH
* Understanding of dispensing, stock control, and supply systems and processes
