Job summary The Post Holder will work alongside the Site Matron playing an active part in supporting the operational activities of the site. Supporting wards site wide with operational problems and identifying and managing barriers to effective and timely patient flow. The role supports the on-site managerial cover throughout evenings/nights/weekends and bank holidays and has the authority to make decisions commensurate with this role and in liaison with the Site Matron. The role is integral in providing a safe, effective service by ensuring resources are effectively managed to meet service demands and needs. Responding to peaks in activity and working closely with clinical colleagues to resolve concerns and respond to emergency situations. The post holder will be required to co-ordinate and guide the implementation of the Trust's Admission and Discharge policies in consultation and in collaboration with all Primary Care and Secondary Care teams and senior hospital management. They will have the authority to work directly with consultants, senior nurse management and hospital management and will be responsible for ensuring that the decision making process is timely, effective and that remedial action where necessary is proposed to the senior hospital management The post holder will be an integral member of the patient flow team, responsible for managing emergency and elective patient flow into and out of the Trusts bed complement. Main duties of the job We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic professional to support our Operations team working closely with the ward teams in Grimsby supporting them to lead and deliver a high standard of care and patient flow throughout a 24 hour period. You must be able to monitor and maintain excellent standards of clinical practice and service delivery. The Operation Centre team is responsible for the safe and effective running of the site 24/7 and has a vast range of responsibilities including coordinating flow from the Emergency Care Centre to our inpatient wards, responding to major incident situations/alerts, hold nominated officer of fire responsibility out-of-hours, providing senior support to all wards and department teams out-of-hours. As an experienced nurse this would be an ideal development opportunity for those wishing to expand their skill set and increase their knowledge and understanding in aspects of the operational management of the site and patient Flow.
