The Role
Develop and embed business architecture capability in Aspen including process, approach, governance framework and key artefacts.
Liaise with stakeholders to maintain the integrity of Aspen’s business architecture, ensuring application of design principles and Aspen’s strategic goals including to establish baseline Aspen enterprise capability map as a north star for all future product development and change delivery.
Build an Aspen business analysis capability, community of practice and internal domain knowledge and expertise.
Key Accountabilities
As Aspen’s lead business architect, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between strategy and execution. You will be key to ensuring we have clear understanding of our business architecture, ‘to be’ business value chains defined for strategic priorities as well as supporting the development of products which support business outcomes.
In addition, you will be supporting assessment of change to ensure there is value in the change being proposed: strategic alignment; user delight; efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, ensuring the architecture is sympathetic to business needs.
Your role will involve:
Business Architecture Development:
* Ensuring business architecture supports the tech and data enabled micro architecture that underpins Aspen’s operations strategy:
o Capability re-use
o Abstraction of PAS systems
o Optimisation and standardisation of capabilities and processes
o Reduced cost of operating
* Interpreting and contextualizing strategic goals for operational needs
* Creating artifacts such as business capability maps and ‘to be’ process flows, business transactional flows are documented and maintained.
* Capture end to end process maps as appropriate.
* Define and maintain the process mapping standards and embed adherence in wider architecture processes
Business solution support and outcomes assurance
* Working in partnership with Enterprise Architecture Team establish the mechanism to ensure that solution design meets the business requirements is aligned to the business architecture and supports project outcomes.
* Support detailed design for projects and programme ensuring alignment to business strategy and processes and overall architecture.
* Working with PMO and sponsors ensure project outcomes are realised and changes to capabilities and processes are documented, and business capability maps and processes maps are maintained.
* Monitoring project progress and tracking outcomes against predefined metrics
Shaping Change and Business Case Alignment:
* Collaborating with stakeholders to shape change initiatives this will include Executive and Change Board members as well as the senior leadership and wider business teams.
* Facilitating the development of business cases that support strategic objectives
* Collaborating with enterprise architecture and delivery teams to support delivery
Project Support
* Providing assurance on solution design and ideation through the full lifecycle of the project, supporting solution options and safeguarding the business’ point of view and desired outcomes
Business Analysis Leadership:
* Managing and leading a small but growing team of business analysts
* Developing and enhancing the organization’s business analysis capability and domain expertise
* Driving ‘process first’ design thinking and supporting enterprise process mapping
* Embedding a business analysis centre of excellence
Skills & Experience
* Candidates must have prior experience as a Business Architect, having performed in similar roles.
* Excellent knowledge of insurance operating models
* Familiarity with business process modelling, enterprise architecture, and associated tools.
* Developing specific business model aligned to group and operational strategy
* Understanding of interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs
* Strong customer orientation skills and ability to proactively manage customer expectations.
* Experience working in a matrix structure, influencing to get to an equitable solution
